Bring your home back to life with these sure-fire plants

Decorating is a task that involves dealing with different areas, as not only should a functional and aesthetic space be created, but it should also respond to the needs and tastes of the people who live there.

Combining these aspects can be complicated for many and the key lies in knowing one's personal tastes and translating this into a particular style. Many achieve this balance, but feel that these spaces lack something to complement it and bring it to life.

The answer is simple: you need plants. Adding plants to your décor is tricky, as they should complement the style without being invasive or looking out of place. Don't worry, we've put together a list of plants that never fail: easy to care for and go with every style.

Plants everyone should have

Sansivieria

The Sansevieria or Snake Plant is one of those popular plants that everyone should have. First of all, they have a lovely shape and bright colours. It looks perfect in more modern and contemporary interior designs, but it also looks great in more classical ones. its secret? The straight, clean lines of its leaves match any type of pot and it will suit your decor.

Adam's Rib

If you check your social media, I can assure you that in at least one photograph you will be able to identify an Adam's Rib or Monstera Deliciosa. Henri Matisse, the painter, adored this plant and you can find it in several of his works. Almost no one can resist the tropical charm and exuberance of the Monstera.

No need to spray or pamper excessively, she is that perfect without asking for much in return.

Cactus

Cacti have distinctive geometric lines, and many have a sculptural nature that looks amazing with any contemporary or eclectic style of décor. Because of their size they can be placed in groups on a variety of surfaces, so they will become centrepieces for tables or accents for shelves and bookshelves; they are the perfect allies for those cosy floors where every centimetre counts.

They are ideal for people who travel a lot, forget their plants or are just starting out in this world. They also look great in decorative pots to match your décor. the only downside? Because they are so cute, easy to care for and small, they can become a healthy addiction.

Lemon Dracaena

The Lemon Dracaena is one of those plants that will always look perfect in the living room, as it will give visual height, colour and freshness but without taking up too much physical or visual space. It looks great in classic and contemporary decors, especially in places with high ceilings as it can grow a few metres if given the right pot. As if that wasn't enough, it falls into the category of purifying plants, so it will improve the humidity levels of the environment while eliminating toxins.

Lemon Dracaena is fairly easy to care for, undemanding and will grow beautifully even if you don't pay too much attention to it. It requires moderate light, but will survive indoors with artificial light. It should be watered about twice a week, keeping the substrate moist but not waterlogged. It will benefit from spraying it with a little water, although if you group it with similar plants, it will even out its moisture levels without much help.

Potos

Potos is one of those plants that you see almost everywhere, but that is to be expected. It grows very easily, requires very little care and is not fussy about watering. It has medium-sized, heart-shaped leaves, which can combine two tones or be completely green, and grows by stretching its stems. This is part of its charm, as you can let it hang from a pot, place it on a shelf and let it cascade down like a waterfall or guide its stems with stakes to surround a structure. The possibilities are endless and your potos will be ready to fulfil your wishes. It is also a powerful purifying plant.

As for watering, once a week is fine and every 10 days in winter. If you spray it, it will thank you for it, while a universal substrate (but with good drainage) will be enough to keep it happy and happy.
