Monstera Minima
Rhaphidophora Tetrasperma
Advice
Consider using a moss pole to guide its growth upwards, maximising its stunning stature. Perfect for bright corners and cosy nooks to add a tropical touch.
Fun facts
Did you know the Monstera Minima, while often mistaken for a smaller version of the Swiss Cheese Plant, is actually a completely different species named Rhaphidophora tetrasperma? Its playful common name comes from the characteristic split leaves it shares with its larger cousin, Monstera deliciosa. Interestingly, the plant is native to tropical forests of Southern Thailand and Malaysia, where it climbs and sprawls through the dense underbrush, creating a verdant tapestry. Indoors, it's popular not only for its beauty but also because it's believed to emit positive energy, making it a popular choice for homes seeking an added bit of optimism.
Signs of weakness
If your Monstera Minima is a bit under the weather, the leaves might droop or develop yellow hues. Shriveled leaves are often a sign of underwatering, whilst yellowing might indicate too much moisture or lack of sunlight. Love it with the right care, and it will reward you with vibrant and lively foliage!
