Care Card
Yellow Orchid
Advice
- Avoid exposure to direct sunlight, as this can cause leaf spotting and wilting of the flowers.
- The roots of the blue orchid have a colouring infiltration, try to water by immersion so as not to lose intensity in the colour of the flowers.
- To make your orchid bloom more, feed it with orchid fertiliser in spring and summer, and deadhead the faded flowers just above the bud.
- Unlike most houseplants, orchids love to root, so they won't need to be repotted often. Instead, replenish the soil with orchid compost every 2-3 years.
- Spray the leaves of your orchid with a spray bottle every few days, but try to avoid the flowers, as the petals can become watermarked.
Signs of weakness
- Wilted and wrinkled leaves: insufficient watering
- Yellowing leaves: too much water, or too much sun
- Wilted flowers: end of annual flowering cycle, storing energy to re-bloom
