Advice

  1. Light: Prefer bright but indirect light. Avoid direct sunlight, which can damage the leaves.

  2. Watering: Keep the substrate evenly moist, but avoid waterlogging. Water when the top layer of the substrate is dry to the touch.

  3. Humidity: Alocasia cuprea 'Red Secret' prefers high humidity. You can increase humidity by placing the pot on a saucer with pebbles and water.

  4. Temperature: This plant does well in warm temperatures, between 18-24 °C.

  5. Feeding: Feed during the growing season (spring and summer) with a balanced fertilizer every 2-4 weeks.

  6. Soil: Use a well-drained substrate rich in organic matter.

  7. Pruning: Remove yellowed or damaged leaves to encourage healthy growth.

Signs of weakness

  1. Leaf drop: If you notice leaves drooping or drooping downwards, it could be a sign of water stress or problems with light.

  2. Leaf discolouration: Unusual yellowing or discolouration of leaves may indicate problems with water, either too much or too little.

  3. Brown spots: Brown spots on leaves may be caused by chlorinated tap water or improper humidity conditions.

  4. Loss of gloss: If the leaves lose their characteristic gloss, it could be a sign of a lack of nutrients.
