Garambullo
Myrtillocactus geometrizans or Garambullo is a cactus native to Mexico. It is well known for its edible and sweet fruit. It can grow up to 4 metres.
It is not toxic for children or pets, but it is recommended to keep it out of reach because of the spines.
Excessive water can destroy its roots.
Care:
- Light: prefers direct light.
- Moderate watering: only when the substratum is dry, in winter to ration and to suspend the watering if necessary.
- Humidity: it does not love humidity, it should not be sprayed.
- Top tip: it is one of the most commonly used species for grafting.
Benefits:
The fruit of the Garambullo is used to make jam, lucores, wines and other foods. It also helps to control glucose levels.
