Advice

  • Too much water can destroy its leaves. Before watering, always remember to check the soil first.
  • As this plant grows, it may be looking for something to climb. Provide it with a stake to encourage vertical growth.
  • It can withstand low temperatures, but not frost. Below freezing, the leaves will scorch from the cold.
  • Not safe for pets, especially cats. Monstera is a poisonous plant.

Signs of weakness

  • Minimal holes in leaves: young plants start with minimal holes, as they mature they develop more.
  • Brown, crisp edges: insufficient watering or salt build-up in tap water.
  • yellowish leaves or black stems, wet potting mix: overwatering.
