Advice

  • Place it in a spot that enjoys plenty of natural light and is not too cold.
  • It is a fast grower, so it may need to be repotted about every three years.
  • Feed with a liquid fertiliser once a month in spring and summer.

Signs of weakness

Birds of paradise like a lot of indirect light as well as some direct light. Some signs that the plant is suffering from a lack of light are: extreme leaf splitting, drooping leaves, new leaves that do not open and browning of the leaves. It is also possible that the plant has difficulty in absorbing water through the roots and will therefore suffer more easily from overwatering if it does not receive enough light.
