Advice

Our terrariums are very easy to care for. They only need light, water once a year and a little attention. Here are some basic tips on how to take good care of them.

Light

Plants need light for photosynthesis. The terrarium should be placed near a window but away from direct sunlight. Ideally, rotate the bowl every week so that all parts of the composition receive the light they need.

Water

When the soil around the main tree is dry, it is time to water the Garden in a bowl. Normally, this is once a year. To water it, use a sprayer and moisten the soil around the main plants. It is advisable not to wet the moss. The amount of water depends on the size of the bowl and the water should preferably be filtered or rain water.

Temperature

The garden in a bowl needs a temperature of between 15 and 27 degrees Celsius, if the temperature is higher, we recommend uncovering the bowl and watering regularly. The plants inside are tropical plants and are used to humidity.

Condensation

Condensation is necessary so that the Garden in a bowl hardly ever needs to be watered. The condensed water falls back into the soil and waters the plants that are there.
However, too much condensation is not good. It usually concentrates on one side of the bowl. It is important to turn the bowl every week so that it is distributed everywhere. If there is a lot of condensation and it is difficult to see the plants inside, it means that the Garden in a bowl has received too much light or heat. In this case it is a good idea to open the lid for a few minutes. If the condensed water does not just fall into the bowl, you can open it and run your hand over it to make it fall more quickly.

Pruning

It is a good idea to prune some of the leaves when they start to touch the glass. To do this, cut the branch below the leaves and leave the bowl open for a few hours to allow the branches to recover and continue to grow.

Other details

Plants need to acclimatise to their new location and may occasionally show signs of stress caused by changes in light and humidity
humidity. Some leaves may drop or turn yellow and mould may grow on some parts. If this happens, it is important to remove the mould and yellow or fallen leaves as soon as possible. That is why we recommend to pay more attention to the bowl in the first few weeks. After this, the plants continue to grow normally.
