Advice

  • Place the plant in a bright place but avoid direct sunlight, which can burn the leaves.
  • Keep the substrate slightly moist, but avoid over-watering. Allow the top layer of the substrate to dry out before watering again.
  • This plant appreciates humidity. You can increase humidity by placing the pot on a tray of water or using a humidifier.
  • It prefers warm, tropical temperatures, between 18 °C and 25 °C. Avoid exposing it to cold draughts.
  • Use a well-drained substrate rich in organic matter, such as a mixture of potting soil and peat.

Signs of weakness

  • Wilted and yellowing leaves: May indicate a problem of excessive watering, lack of proper drainage or a substrate that is too wet.
  • Leaf drop: May be caused by sudden changes in temperature, cold draughts or too much direct light.
  • Dark spots on leaves: May be a sign of fungal or bacterial diseases, especially if the spots are accompanied by discolouration and deformation of the leaves.
  • Flaccid and limp leaves: Indicates lack of watering or dry substrate. The plant may be in urgent need of water.
