Learn about the essential nutrients your plant needs to grow optimally.
Plants
are made up of water, organic elements, and mineral salts. In their natural habitat, they are able to procure most of the nutrients and elements they need to live on their own.
However, the cultivated plants that adorn our homes and workplaces need a little help from us to grow healthy and beautiful.
The three essential elements:
Light- – Light is essential for the process of photosynthesis. During this process, plants absorb the harmful carbon dioxide particles and release the oxygen that reaches our lungs.
Some species can live indoors with low light. However, most of them will progressively lose their color and even succumb if they do not receive the doses of light they need.
- Oxygen and carbon – Without these two elements, which they get from water and air, plants would simply cease to exist.
- Water – Plants get the hydrogen they need through water. All the minerals they need are dissolved there, which they absorb through the roots. To the naked eye, you can tell when a plant is dehydrated because its leaves curl up, lose their color, its flowers dry out, and the fruits wrinkle.
Main Macronutrients Plants
NeedWhat are macronutrients? These are the elements that plants need the most:
- Nitrogen – It is responsible for keeping plant leaves looking healthy, and it makes the plant develop strong and vigorous. A nitrogen deficit causes the plant to lose its green color and become progressively yellowish. In our store you can get a special nitrogen-based fertilizer.
Nitroflower Fertiliser 750grSlow-release fertiliser - Potassium – Helps form stomata, which in turn control the cells that absorb CO2. A potassium deficiency will cause the leaves to turn yellow, brittle, and have less resistance to lack of water.
- Phosphorus – Promotes the development of roots and flowers. A phosphorus deficiency causes the leaves to turn dark and take on a purple hue.
- Calcium – It is essential for the cells of the plant to be able to divide. Their deficiency will result in your plant's leaves falling short of their normal size.
- Magnesium – Magnesium is one of the essential components of chlorophyll. A deficiency of this element will influence the color of its leaves, which will lose their vibrant and healthy tone.
- Sulfur – Its deficiency causes stems to grow less, newer veins and leaves to turn yellow, and fruits to be of lower quality.
Useful tips for caring for your plant
- Some plants need to keep the substrate moist constantly, while others only need sporadic watering. Water requirements will depend on the type of plant, but also on the time of year, environmental conditions and even where they are placed.
- The substrate should be of good quality, well-drained, and rich in organic material that the plant can feed on.
Nutrients - are essential for the proper development of the plant. If necessary, this can be added in the form of fertiliser, liquid fertilisers, etc.
- In your trusted nursery you will find all kinds of substrates, fertilizers, organic products, fertilizers and everything you need for your favorite plants to grow beautiful and healthy.
To
make your plants look radiant and beautiful all year round, all you have to do is give them the care and pampering they need.
